so, these adventure-junkies have constructed what they call a “catamaran”, but is essentially two giant wooden skis under a tent. This thing is powered by giant drag-parachutes that pull it across the tundra, faster so even than modern means. They have an excuse for this madness, they are picking up ice-core samples along their trans-antarctic journey, which they have been on for over two months. they have made several stops along the way at russian and us camps to pick up supplies and drop off ice core samples.

They have also set a speed record by traveling 194 miles in one day. A record previously held by a mechanically led 1997 adventure. Whoa, all in a tent retrofitted with giant kites!
