The stock exhaust system has 2 turbo-choking catalytic converters. These help with emissions controll. I opted to go with a cat-delete midpipe by Protosport. I chose them specifically because I know one of their sales reps and was able to work out free installation. In any case, the removal of the cats made a HUGE difference. I would estimate the gains to be around 30whp, even more of an advantage at higher boost levels. The turbo spools much faster (2.5k as opposed to 3.5k) and the top end is does die down at all. Many people argue that the exhaust system is lacking, and say that one should go with a turbo-back system. Turbo-back systems are expensive and not needed. 3″ pipes are WAY oversized for this car. The kinds of gains you would see with a turbo-back system (which costs roughly 6 times the cost of the midpipe) is on the order of a few horsepower. Not worth it in my eyes. I may end up upgrading to a better cat-back system someday, the stock cat-back is good enough, for now. It sounds great and still retains a stocker look and feel.
