The stock subwoofer in the MSP is a Kenwood. Thus far I have blown 2 of them. I never abuse the system at all. Many, MANY others have had similar problems with the stocker subwoofer. After going through the hassle of 2 blown stock subs, I have decided to go with an aftermarket selection. I decided on the Diamond Audio CM3 8″ subwoofer @ 4ohms. It fits in the same box as the stocker sub, and has vastly superior quality.
