Automotive

Well, Sunday I test drove the Mazdaspeed 6.

I went with my girlfriend - I told them up front I WILL NOT PAY THE MARKUP FEE. They agreed and I went on the test drive.

IMPRESSIONS:
The car pulls well in the mid range. and by well i mean incredible! my car is fast, way fast. but it doesn’t have the mid range grunt of this car.

I was surprised that the top end was lousy, above 5krpm the car has no grunt. i can assume that is this due to the cat that is molded into the turbo exhaust housing! flow problems anyone?

getting back to the showroom, seriously considering buy this thing, dealer says they will take $1000 off the markup, i walked out.

don’t pay a markup for this car, it goes like hell 3-5k and is comfortable and has nav (bling bling!) but it is not worth the $2500 markup

one might wonder what it would take to get apple to host such files for free like they are. with the heavy advertising of the inside line all over the web it goes to show that edmunds is determined to get into the auto review market no matter what.

there are about 20 or so bland-ish reviews that are classic american tv style.

top gear for life, the yanks have a lot to learn when it comes to reviewing a car.

link to the video-casts or whatever they are called

for those of you apt in piglatin, i encourage you to read the full article with all of the images.

this will be my next car, i have an overwhealming urge to buy an s54 m coupe. but this model will be even better looking, performing, comfortable etc…

im in love.

i have heard tons of rumors that it may have the new bmw v8 (400bhp f1 style monster) engine. if so this is the new god of cars as far as i am concerned, watch out porsche!

The new audi r10 lemans car…. powered by a twin turbo v12…. diesel! whoa.

“The all-aluminum V12 bi-turbo is a huge leap forward. Although limited by the Le Mans regulations to a maximum displacement of 5.5 liters, a maximum boost of 2.94 bar, and a restricted air intake, the engine still develops 650 hp, and a stump-pulling torque of 1,100 Nm.”

using a turbo-diesel has huge advantages, especially when it comes to real-world applications. beings diesel motor, it is not the highest revving engine in the world. it develops max power between 3,000 and 5,000 rpms. as opposed to a normal petrol racing engine which might max at 10-12k rpms. developing road ready engines capable, and reliable enough for the road is something that is years away. however the tdi technology is here now.

as a result of the low revs the engine is extremely quiet - and hums along at a fraction of the noise levels of traditional engines. the tdi is also gets better gas mileage, and is as clean burning as any of VW/Audi’s other tdi powertrains

score one for the torque mosters!
